Business Empire Consulting provides Internet Presence Management – a broad array of services geared to helping brands connect seamlessly with customers across all digital touch points.

August 2008

North Carolina State University student Bryan Young starts an online magazine designed to help answer the business related questions of their peers with no outside funding.  He runs the operation part time, from a small single bedroom apartment. In its first month more than 4,000 students visit their site.

A mutual friend introduces Bryan to fellow North Carolina State University student Matthew Laster.

January 2009

January 16th, 2009 Matthew and Bryan run their guerilla marketing campaign termed D-Day on NC State’s campus. They get more than 1,000 of their friends participate wearing different paraphernalia, they pass out flyers and other promotional products around campus and attend a fraternity party that night to give away shot glasses with their logo on it. Spending less than $2,000 over 17,000 visitors came to the new website within the first hour. The tactic draws media attention and the interest of many NC State alumni in what Matt and Bryan are capable of.

March 2009

After receiving numerous employment offers, Matt and Bryan co-found Business Empire Consulting as a division of Business Empire Group, Inc. The duo works part-time around their class schedules designing simple web pages for small businesses to help pay their way through school. Boylan Property Management, a well known real estate firm becomes their first client.

August 2009

Only using word of mouth advertising nationally renowned California based weight wellness surgeon, Dr. Donald Waldrep contracts BEC to redesign his entire web portfolio. Asking BEC to address his office technology headaches and desires would lead to the eventual creation of Technology Core Consulting.

September 2009

Both Bryan and Matt find themselves teaching college computer and business courses that they are enrolled as students in. They develop a complex learning system that uses unique feedback metrics to deliver information to the learner in audio, video or textual format. The goal is to help individuals learn by delivering materials based on their personal learning style.

October 2009

Bryan becomes the first student to ever speak at NC State’s Entrepreneurship Lecture Series. Business Empire Consulting continues to show exponential growth, and becomes too demanding for Bryan and Matt to service clients while attending college full-time. Bryan withdraws from school to concentrate on the business full-time while Matt scales back his class schedule.

Brandon Blair (current Chief Operations Officer) joins and becomes the company’s first intern.

Scott Simerly (current Director of Visual Technology) joins the company as a video producer.

Business Empire Group, Inc. takes small stake in HiTech Exposure.

December 2009

Matt and Bryan are featured as the cover story for Young Money Magazine, the nation’s leading magazine for young business professionals.

January 2010

After much praise from clients on their ability to breakdown complex technology concepts and months of defining their process Matt and Bryan launch Internet Presence Management as a feature service.

The company lands its first major internet presence management clients: Congressional candidates Renee Ellmers and Bernie Reeves. The sale, at just more than $10,000, is the company’s largest at that time. BEC is put in charge of making all mission critical technology decisions regarding the campaigns, price comparison and setup of office equipment and website design on a .NET NUKE platform for both campaigns.

March 2010

Bryan Young becomes the youngest CEO to ever receive the Triangle Business Journal’s prestigious 40 Under 40 Business Leader Award.

Departments at North Carolina State University, Anthony & Co., Paice Hyperdrive, LLC and North State Strategies join a group of more than 20 other organizations actively using Internet Presence Management.

April 2010

CEO Chauncey Mayfield( 2009 Midwest Ernest & Young Entrepreneur of the Year) Mayfield Gentry Realty Advisors, LLC and Property Portfolio Management Global, LLC become Internet Presence Management clients of BEC.

Alex Lane (current Chief Creative Officer) joins the company as a web designer.

BEC’s total staff reaches 15+ employees. The rapid growth presents office space issues, but the diversity of the staff is used to grow company culture. 

June 2010

Business Empire Consulting begins working with higher education professors building “Personal Branding Engines”. The idea is to build the professors personal credibility to fund research, while assisting in better communication with their students and better brand recognition of the department. The idea quickly catches on!

August 2010

Our Time, Our Way documentary about the Business Empire team and company culture goes into production.

Business Empire closes it first government contract for more that $15,000.

Bryan Young and Matthew Laster become the feature story for Under30CEO

September 2010

Matthew Laster is named a 2010 Business Mover & Shaker by Business Leader Magazine. He becomes the youngest C-level executive to ever receive the award.
